At Breightmet School, aims  every pupil has the right to high-quality, inclusive teaching every day. We recognise that effective Quality First Teaching (QFT) is the most powerful lever for securing progress for all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

  • ensure instruction is explicit, systematic and scaffolded
  • enable pupils to develop independent learning skills
  • prioritise language and vocabulary development in every lesson
  • use assessment and feedback to inform next steps in learning
  • maintain high yet achievable challenge for all, including pupils with SEND
